<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provided a method for producing succinic acid, which is characterized by culturing in anaerobic conditions the bacterial mutant cell line having the property of producing succinic acid at high concentration while producing little or no other organic acids, as compared to the prior wild-type cell lines of producing various organic acids. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a new rumen bacterial mutant cell line (Mannheimia sp. LPK) of rumen bacteria, having deletions of a lactate dehydrogenase gene (ldhA) and a pyruvate formate-lyase gene (plf), which are involved in the production of lactic acid, formic acid and acetic acid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
