<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide which can reduce guide loss of a waveguide, and to provide a method of manufacturing the optical waveguide and a die for manufacturing the waveguide. <P>SOLUTION: The optical waveguide includes a clad and a waveguide core of a single core or multi-cores and includes a dummy core on both outer sides of the waveguide core of the single core or multi-cores. In the manufacturing method, a core die pattern is formed corresponding to the waveguide core shape, with a die prepared in which a dummy die pattern corresponding to the dummy core shape is formed on both outer sides of the core die pattern. On the clad, a core material is provided having fluidity to become the core by being hardened, wherein the core die pattern formed on the die and the dummy die pattern are transferred to the core material. Then, the core material is hardened to form the waveguide core and the dummy core. In addition, the die includes a substrate having a primary surface on which the core die pattern corresponding to the waveguide core shape is formed and on which the dummy die pattern corresponding to the dummy core shape is formed on both outer sides of the core die pattern. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
