PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for simply confirming the lighting of an ultraviolet lamp by eliminating necessity for taking the ultraviolet lamp out of a housing or providing a window to the housing in order to confirm the lighting of the ultraviolet lamp. SOLUTION: An ultraviolet irradiation device 2 is configured such that the ultraviolet lamp 6 and a target 8 irradiated with ultraviolet rays are built in the housing 4. In the ultraviolet lamp 6, lead terminals are outwardly drawn out of both end sealing parts of an ultraviolet permeable tube in which ultraviolet radiation gas is sealed. Both end sealing parts are fitted in one opening of a cylindrical holding part 10 and the other opening of the cylindrical holding part 10 is sealed so as to protrude the lead terminals by the sealing member consisting of a visible light permeable resin which cuts off ultraviolet rays. The housing 4 has shading properties, houses the tube part of the ultraviolet lamp 6 and the target 8 irradiated with ultraviolet rays therein and holds the ultraviolet lamp 6 while the other opening of the holding part 10 of the ultraviolet lamp 6 is exposed to the outside.
