PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detector accurately performing relative detection between a magnet and a movable part using a magnet and two detectors that moves while opposing the magnet. SOLUTION: A circular surface 2a of a magnet 2 is magnetized with an N-pole and the back side 2b is magnetized with an S-pole. A movable part 10 is mounted with a first detector 11 and a second detector 12 with an interval of 2×A in the Y-direction. The first detector 11 is mounted with two GMR elements and an output corresponding to tanθ1 is obtained. The second detector 12 is mounted with two GMR elements and an output corresponding to tanθ2 is obtained. A detection circuit can calculate a movement position (X, Y) of the center 10a of the movable part 10 from the output corresponding to tanθ1, the output corresponding to tanθ2, and a constant A relating to the distance between the two detectors 11, 12.
