PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cushion for a backrest which is capable of securing the fittingness to the shoulders and waist of a seated person even if the body size of the seated person varies. SOLUTION: The water cushion is provided as a shoulder pad 3 or waist pad 4. The shoulder pad 3 or waist pad 4 is segmented by dams 15, 26, 28 and 34 into a plurality of chambers 16, 17, 31, 35 and 36, so that the transfer of flowing water is restrained. In either the shoulder pad 3 or waist pad 4, curved upper guide surfaces 18, 19, 32 and 39 and lower guide surfaces 20 and 33 are formed. The inner and outer chambers 16 and 17 in the shoulder pad 3 are inclined relative to a vertical center line 9, and a first chamber 31 in the waist pad 4 is also inclined relative to the vertical center line 9.
