A method for reducing power consumption of the wireless local area network authentication and privacy infrastructure (WAPI) mobile terminal and a WAPI mobile terminal are provided. The method includes: buffering the received WAPI service data to a dynamic buffer module; processing the buffered WAPI service data by the processor module of the WAPI mobile terminal when the accumulation of the data quantity of buffered WAPI service data reaches the data quantity threshold set by the WAPI mobile terminal during the process of buffering the received WAPI service data. The WAPI mobile terminal includes: a WAPI communication module and a processor module connected to each other, a storage module connected to the processor module, and a dynamic buffer module respectively connected to the WAPI communication module and the processor module.
