PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium transition metal composite oxide having satisfactory initial charge and discharge characteristics, a method for manufacturing the same, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery.

SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the lithium transition metal composite oxide uses a baking tool which is subjected to heat treatment at least once together with a lithium compound as a baking tool used for baking a raw material of the lithium transition metal composite oxide.
