<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an operator from feeling dazzled by illumination light for lighting a code symbol even when an area imaging device is applied to a code symbol reader in the form of a vertical scanner whose read surface is just opposite to an operator. <P>SOLUTION: A reading window is formed in a housing. An imaging part is provided in the housing, and includes the area imaging device which uses an imaging area via the reading window as the reading area of a code symbol attached to an article. A display is formed on the same side as the surface of the housing in which the reading window is formed, and provided above the reading window. A display for customers is provided to the rear side of the display. An illumination part is located in an upper part rather than the reading window in the housing, and provided below the display to illuminate the reading area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
