PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber unit which is easily laid and does not defile the environment.

SOLUTION: The optical fiber unit includes: one or a plurality of inner cables which are composed of coated optical fibers covered by an outer coat; and a tubular covering material which houses the inner cables, wherein the occupancy of the inner cables with respect to the tubular path of the covering material is 50% or less.
