The invention relates to an agent for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of highly pathogenic infectious diseases, such as highly pathogenic influenza A (in particular, subtypes H5 and H7) and severe acute respiratory syndrome caused by the genotype 4 coronavirus. The agent is in the form of glutaryl histamine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical composition based on glutaryl histamine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof and to a method for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of highly pathogenic infectious diseases.
