PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize equipment cost as compared with a case for separately arranging an elevator exclusive to a person and an elevator exclusive to an article. SOLUTION: This elevator 1 for work is arranged on a sidewall 2a when constructing a building 2 of a plurality of stories. At least four wall parts 31, 32, 33 and 34 are arranged in a cage 3 so as to surround a car floor part 30. Since safety is secured by these wall parts 31, etc., the person is carried. The article (for example, a building material) is carried in at an aboveground story by opening-closing a part 32a of the wall part 32 on the building outside, and the article is carried out at a predetermined story (for example, the rooftop) by opening-closing a part 35a of a car ceiling part 35. That is, since both of the parson and the article are carried while being one elevator, the equipment cost is minimized more than when respectively arranging the elevators exclusive to the person and to the article.
