PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reinforce a post in a manner where its construction can be easily performed without the need of large-scale work of the construction, and an existing building including the post is not damaged at all when reinforcement work is performed for improving the bending strength of the post of the existing building. SOLUTION: Aseismatic reinforcement members 3 (4, 5) or the like extend in a horizontal direction wherein the ends 4b, 5b of the horizontal direction are pressed against the side faces of the post 2 at a predetermined distance from the lower end of the post 2 of the existing building, and other lower end faces 4c, 5c abut on a lower structure 1 on which the lower end of the post is fixed. When the bending moment is applied to the post, the aseismatic reinforcement members receive the reaction force from the lower structure, and act only on a compression side as a so-called outrigger so as to effectively reinforce the post to which the bending moment is applied. Cushioning members 51, 52 may be disposed between the other lower end faces and the lower structure or an upper structure. A shear reinforcement member 61 can be wound around the side face between the position at a predetermined distance from the lower end of the post and the upper end thereof, or the side face between the position at a predetermined distance from the upper end of the post and the lower end thereof.
