METHOD FOR PRODUCING A RELIEF PATTERN

The method for producing a relief pattern involves applying a protective mask to the surface of a moving article by web screen printing and then etching the exposed areas with an etching solution to produce a decorative relief pattern in the long-length metal article, which comprises indentations of less than the thickness of the metal that is being worked. The method also involves filling the indentations of the relief with a dye, which is subsequently cured with ultraviolet or infrared radiation. The relief pattern is formed as the long-length metal article moves at a speed of 2.3-550 m/min. The relief pattern is formed so that the ratio of the total area of the raised elements of the relief to the total area of the indentations is 0.05-19.0. The indentations are etched to 0.95 of the thickness of the metal article and have a width of 0.01-25 mm; the raised elements have a size of 0.01-25 mm in diameter in plan view. The relief pattern is formed on a sheet of stainless steel or bi-metal or aluminium alloy, or on a titanium strip.
