The arrangement has a current transformer (4) converting measuring current (Imess) flowing towards a reference point (BP1) in a load circuit into converted current (Iwandel) in a direction towards another reference point (BP2). A switch element (T) e.g. FET, allows a capacitor (C2) to be discharged during a switching process. A control and evaluation device (3) releases the process to discharge the capacitor, measures a capacitor voltage (Uc) at a preset time point after the process is released and determines an average current value from the measuring current based on the measured voltage. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring electrical current using a switch arrangement.
