PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the following problem: it is difficult for a conventional liquid crystal to reduce processing load on control.

SOLUTION: A liquid crystal device 85 includes: liquid crystals which are controlled to be in an on-state or off-state for each of sub-field periods into which at least part of one frame period is divided; and a voltage control circuit 164 which causes a driving voltage for controlling the on-state and off-state of the liquid crystals to be changed based on temperature information TMP which is information indicating the temperature of the environment where the device is used.
