PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably speed up retrieval wherein a plurality of retrieval conditions are designated to a large amount of structured data group having a plurality of items. SOLUTION: An index is constructed to each item (can be a retrieval condition) of structured data, and simultaneously with it, a set index is constructed with a value frequently appearing in each item as one element in a pair with an item name thereof. When the plurality of retrieval conditions are designated when retrieving, selection of a proper processing procedure, i.e., selection of whether processing is performed by use of a value index group of each item or by use of the set index is performed from an estimation number according with each retrieval condition to stably perform the retrieval at high speed.
