PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder having high magnetic characteristic and high reliability, capable of detecting highly-accurate rotational frequency, and preventing generation of a crack on a magnet part even in a severe using condition such as a sudden temperature change, and to provide a rolling bearing unit including the magnetic encoder, and having high performance and high reliability. SOLUTION: The magnetic encoder is formed by bonding integrally the magnet part obtained by forming toroidally a magnetic material including magnetic body powder and a binder containing a polyamide resin and vulcanized rubber particles, with a slinger. The rolling bearing unit wherein the magnetic encoder is fixed on a rotary wheel, includes a fixed wheel, the rotary wheel, and a plurality of rolling elements disposed rollably in the circumferential direction between the fixed wheel and the rotary wheel.
