A semipermeable asymmetric hollow fiber membrane is provided, based on a hydrophobic polymer, such as polyethersulfone or polysulfone, and on a hydrophilic polymer, such as PVP. The PVP polymer comprises a high molecular weight component and a low molecular weight component.
