USE OF CARBON DIOXIDE REGULATOR FOR EXTENDING PRESERVATION LIFE OF PLASTIC PACKAGING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for replenishing a carbon dioxide gas within a carbonated beverage container in order to extend the preservation life of a plastic packaging and a packaging system for maintaining the constant pressure of a carbonated beverage including a closing member (lid), a plastic container and a carbon dioxide regulator.

SOLUTION: The carbon dioxide regulator discharges carbon dioxide at a speed substantially equal to the speed at which carbon dioxide falls out from the container. The carbon dioxide regulator includes a material which absorbs and subsequently discharges high polymer carbonate; organic carbonate; or carbon dioxide. The packaging system for overmolding a preform around an assembly for the carbon dioxide regulator or blending the carbon dioxide regulator to a plastic material used for forming the body of the container for the carbonated beverage is disclosed.
