IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus capable of automatically correcting positional deviation of an image caused by a conveyance error of a recording medium by suppressing wasteful consumption of the recording medium or toner without lowering print productivity.

SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a selection part 52 selecting image data for detection from image data; a memory 53 storing the selected image data; a sensor SE1 detecting a leading edge or a trailing edge of the recording medium; a sensor SE2 detecting the image formed on the recording medium; a calculation part 56 extracting an image corresponding to the image data for detection stored in the memory 53 from the image detected by the sensor SE2, and also calculating position information from the extracted image and the leading edge or the trailing edge detected by the sensor SE1; a difference calculation part 61 comparing the image data for detection stored in the memory 53 with the image position information calculated by the calculation part 56 and calculating a difference between them; and a correction controller 62 controlling an image forming position on the recording medium based on the difference.
