PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform range finding satisfactorily in an image projection device, even if a projection lens is displaced, without increasing the size of a range finding sensor or the device. SOLUTION: The image projection device includes: a shift means 320 shifting the projection lens 100, in a direction which is different from an optical axis direction; the range finding sensor 200 performing the range finding by detecting a specific pattern P included in an image for range finding projected through the projection lens; a shift position detection means 325 detecting the shift position of the projection lens by the shift means; and an image changing means 330 changing the images A, B for range finding so that the specific pattern is positioned in a detection field F of the range finding sensor, corresponding to the displaced position detected by the displaced position detection means.
