PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method and apparatus for orientating a rotational position of a container, particularly a bottle. SOLUTION: In this invention, while the container 1 is rotated, the characteristics of this container 1 are detected, and an actual rotational position of the container 1 is calculated on the basis of the characteristics detected, and a controlling signal for moving the container 1 to a required rotational position is calculated.
