<p>The present invention relates to the use of a plastically-compacted collagen gel as a substrate for the growth of corneal cells, particularly limbal corneal epithelial stem cells. Cells grown on such a substrate can be cultured to produce artificial ocular epithelia which can be used in ocular toxicity testing or for transplantation.</p> |
