PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shift operating device of a vehicular transmission which is miniaturized while ensuring the required strength. SOLUTION: A lever part 22 is provided as a folding mechanism for folding a shift lever 12 at an intermediate part in the longitudinal direction when the operational load to be applied to the shift lever 12 is equal to or larger than the predetermined operational load so as to move the shift lever 12 along the predetermined operational path. Thus, for example, when the shift lever 12 is operated in the direction not along the predetermined operational path or operated by a shift lock member 31 or the like, and pressed against a guide member or the shift lock member 31, and if any excessive operational load over the predetermined operational load is applied to the shift lever 12, the excessive operational load is absorbed by the lever part 22. Thus, components such as the shift lever 12, the guide member 14, and the shift lock member 31 can be miniaturized, and a shift operating device 10 is obtained, which is miniaturized on the whole.
