<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display which has light converging lenses, excels in light-condensing characteristics, and can avoid interface reflections, and to provide a manufacturing method for the display. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display has a liquid crystal panel, built by holding liquid crystals inside the cells formed by the first and second substrates arranged facing each other, and an irradiation device arranged at a first substrate side of the liquid crystal panel; a polarizing layer is formed containing a dichroic dye having lyotropic liquid crystalline, by coating on the surface opposite to the liquid crystal on the first substrate of the liquid crystal panel; and the light-condensing lenses are arranged on the polarizing layer to make the light from the irradiation device condense in the cells. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
