GLYCOCONJUGATE VACCINE FOR USE IN IMMUNE-COMPROMISED POPULATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide Staphylococcal and Enterococcal glycoconjugate vaccines for use in preventing and treating bacterial infection in an immune-compromised individual. SOLUTION: The vaccines contain an immunocarrier and a surface antigen of polysaccharide or glycopeptide derived from a clinically-significant bacterial strain. The vaccine can be used for active protection in immune-compromised individuals who are to be subjected to conditions that place them at risk of developing a bacterial infection, as would be the case in the context of a catheterization or surgical procedure.
