<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable optical pickup wherein thermal run away and deterioration are prevented and displacement of a light-emitting element and exfoliation of a flexible printed circuit board and the light emitting element are prevented by efficiently radiating heat of the light receiving element. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup is provided with: the light-receiving element 21; the flexible printed circuit board 23 connected to the light-receiving element 21; a light-receiving element holder 22 holding the light-receiving element 21; and an optical substrate 11 holding the light-receiving element holder 22.
