<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup which can appropriately suppress the spherical and coma aberration. <P>SOLUTION: The optical pickup 1 has a light source 11, an objective lens 17 to focus the light from the light source 11 on the information recording layer of an optical recording medium, a movable lens 15 disposed on the optical path between the light source 11 and the objective lens 17 and free to move to correct the spherical aberration, and a lens moving mechanism 4 to translate the movable lens 15 in the predetermined direction.
