PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pressure rice cooker with high safety preventing the jetting of steam and boiling water from between a cooker body and a lid body even if an abnormal pressure is applied to the interior of the pot during cooking. SOLUTION: This rice cooker includes: a cooker body 2 which has the pot 4 where rice is inserted, a storage case 14 where the pot 4 is stored, a heating means 5 for heating the pot 4, and a control section for controlling the cooking; a lid body 3 openably/closably mounted to the cooker body 2; a pressure valve 18 which is provided inside the lid body 3 and adjusts the pressure in the interior of the pot 4; a safety device; and a storage section 32 for storing gruel-like thick rice water; wherein the safety device formed from a safety valve 33 and a protection valve 34 and, when the pressure in the interior of the pot 4 reaches a set value of the safety valve 33, the safety valve 33 is operated to depressurize the interior of the pot. Alternatively, when the safety valve 33 is non-operated to cause the pressure to increase to a set value of the protection valve 34, an operation section 41 of the protection valve 34 is operated to depress a valve rod 44 and depressurize the interior of the pot 4.
