PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiver which selects a channel from a list of receivable broadcast stations, the receiver keeping a state wherein efficient channel selection can be performed, even when the number of receivable broadcast stations is decreased by the environment around a moving object. SOLUTION: A navigation system 1 mounted in a vehicle includes: a broadcast receiving section 30 for receiving broadcast; a storing section 15 for storing a broadcast station list 15c indicating broadcast stations receivable by the broadcast receiving section 30; and a controlling section 10 which periodically performs an updating operation for detecting broadcast stations receivable by the broadcast receiving section 30 and updating the broadcast station list 15c on the basis of a result of the detection. While the vehicle is located inside a receiving difficult area, the controlling section 10 suppresses execution of the updating operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
