PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the output of a false signal from an imaging element and to suitably monitor an external field around an own vehicle.

SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus for a vehicle includes a solid-state imaging element 52 having a light receiving surface 52a for receiving light converged by a lens and a light transmitting window 53 arranged between the solid-state imaging element 52 and the lens. At least a part of an opposite surface 53a of the light transmitting window 53, which is opposed to the solid-state imaging element 52, is composed of a straight locus inclined to the light receiving surface 52a of the solid-state imaging element 52.
