The method involves arranging a middle layer (4) between upper and lower cover plates (2, 3) of a furniture plate (1), where the furniture plate includes supporting and/or decoration edge (5). The furniture plate is fixed to a retaining device. A recess (6) is introduced at the supporting and/or decoration edge, and is broader in an area of the middle layer than in an area of the upper cover plate, where the recess is produced by drilling. A connection fitting is inserted into the recess, and is adhered to the furniture plate. An independent claim is also included for a device for manufacturing a furniture plate.
