The device (1) has a transport device for transporting a plastic preform (10) along a predetermined transport path. A heating unit (52) is arranged along the transport path of the plastic preform for heating the plastic preform. The device holds the plastic preform with a temperature distribution in a circumferential direction of the plastic preform. A rotary drive (18) rotates the plastic preform around the longitudinal direction. The rotation drive adjusts a thread of the plastic preform with respect to the rotational position around the longitudinal direction of the preform. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling temperature of a plastic preform.
