Switching assembly for actuating a capacitive load

The arrangement has a unidirectional direct current (dc) converter (1) e.g. inductive switching converter, which receives supply voltage at an input side and delivers output voltage to a storage capacitor (2) at an output side. A bi-directional dc converter (3) delivers charges stored in the storage capacitor in discrete charging quantities to a capacitive load (4) e.g. piezoelectric actuator, in an effective direction. A programmable control circuit (5) controls the bidirectional dc converter in dependent of the applied control voltage, according to a pre-determined stored control program.
