A probe for use in Diffusive Equilibrium in Thin Films (DET) method, comprising a first plate 10 having a through-hole 11 formed to allow sediments to be passed along a longitudinal direction; a second plate 20 with a plurality of filling holes 21 for a gel and behind the first plate; a third plate 30 behind the second plate; and magnets fush with the surface of each plate. Magnets 23 and 27 on second plate 20 can be secured to magnets 13 and 15 on first plate 10 and to magnets 31 and 33 on third plate 30. Preferably, the plates are similar in shape and size, the second plate further including an insertion portion 26 cooperating with an inserting groove (41, Figure 4) on a head member 40 of the probe. A plurality of stacked second plates may be included in the probe so as to allow gel-filling of several second plates in one operation. Also claimed is a probe comprising a second plate 20 and a removal plate 50 with projecting portions 51 cooperating with gel-filled holes 21 of a second plate 20 and magnets 53 and 55 securable to magnets 23 and 27 of second plate 20.
