[Class 38 (v)] [Also in Group XXXV] A load 1, such as a vibrating rectifier, is connected to mains 3 by a switch 2 so as to include in circuit a resistance 4 which is arranged in proximity to a bimetallic strip 6 which after an interval bends downwards and breaks contact with a spring 7 and thus removes a short circuit from a low resistance coil 5 which then causes spring 7 to engage a spring 8. This short circuits the resistance 4 and allows strip 6 to cool, the coil 5 remaining energized until switch 2 is opened. In a modification, two resistances are connected in succession in such a way as to prevent direct connection of the load in case the switch 2 is opened and then closed before the strip 6 has cooled.</p> |
