A ventilation heat exchanger unit comprises an outer enclosure 92 containing a heat exchanger 48 and first and second ventilation pathways each extending through the heat exchanger from a respective port 82 on a front outer wall of the enclosure, the heat exchanger having a planar first front face parallel to the front outer wall of the enclosure and whereby the heat exchanger extends from the front outer wall to a rear wall of the enclosure and occupies 25 to 50% of the internal volume of the outer enclosure. The heat exchanger may occupy over 30% or over 40% of the internal volume, with over 30% being preferable and about 30 to 40% being more typical, e.g. 33%, although over 50% or over 55% or over 60% may be envisaged. The outer enclosure may have a manifold face comprising of two identical manifold portions 54 with the ports protruding from the enclosure. |
