Device and method for charging batteries

The method involves supplying electrical energy by a voltage supply (30) to a consumer (10). The voltage supply is connected with multiple homogeneous cells (21-23) for charging of a rechargeable battery (20). The voltage supply is regularly separated from one of the cells with respect to complete charging of the cell. A charging process is continued by connection of the cell with the other cells when sufficient voltage is not supplied by the voltage supply. An independent claim is also included for a device for charging of rechargeable batteries.
