PURPOSE: A packet classification device and a method thereof for reducing the memory access time and memory capacity are provided to efficiently and rapidly classify the packets and reduce the memory access time and memory capacity. CONSTITUTION: A destination hash table search unit(250) extracts second true positive bit. A tuple hash table search unit(260) generates a tuple based on second true positive bit. The tuple hash table search unit searches a tuple hash table about the tuple in the tuple list stored in a previously generated rule set. The tuple hash table search unit extracts the rule for the packet classification.
