PURPOSE: A composition containing soybean leaf extract or fraction thereof for preventing or treating obesity, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, diabetes or metabolic syndrome is provided to suppress lipoprotein-binding phospholipase A2(Lp-PLA2). CONSTITUTION: A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating obesity, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, diabetes or metabolic syndrome contains soybean leaf extract as an active ingredient. The extract is isolated using water, organic solvent or mixture solvent thereof. The organic solvent is alcohol, ethyl acetate or acetonitrile. The composition additionally contains organic solvent fraction of the soybean leaf extract as an active ingredient. A health food for preventing or treating obesity, hyperlipidemia, fatty liver, diabetes or metabolic diseases contains the soybean leaf extract.
