CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing hair loss or promoting hair growth contains valproic acid or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an active ingredient. The salt is sodium valproate. The composition is manufactured in a percutaneous administration. The composition is also manufactured hypodermic injection or external use formulation. A pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition contains the composition for preventing hair loss or promoting hair growth.
