<p>The method involves compressing/decompressing data transmitted/received by a user terminal e.g. personal computer type fixed user terminal (U1), to destination from an access platform (20). Compression/decompression of data transmitted/received by the platform to destination from the user terminal is performed such that a part of data stream transmitted over Internet local loops (10, 10') is compressed, and another part of the data stream passing beyond the platform is decompressed at ends of the local loops. An independent claim is also included for a system for accessing an Internet network.</p> |
