THE METHOD FOR DECIDING INTRA PREDICTION MODE OF IMAGE DATA

PURPOSE: A method for deciding an intra prediction mode of image data is provided to remarkably shorten a performance time by processing an intra prediction mode determination process in a higher parallel level when encoding image data. CONSTITUTION: A sub macro calculator calculates sub macro blocks(S100), and a candidate group selector performs similar intra prediction at intra prediction modes for each macro block(S200). An intra prediction mode determining unit calculates the dependence between macro blocks, and determines a final intra prediction mode of a minimum cost at the intra prediction modes from the intra prediction mode candidate group(S300).
