The invention relates to a novel structural and furniture panel consisting of a honeycomb-based lightweight composite material, said panel being formed by a core panel (2) consisting of a conventional honeycomb material with honeycombs (20) that are arranged perpendicularly to the principal surface (KHF) of the core panel, and cover layers (201) on the upper and lower faces. A reinforcement strip (3) is bonded to at least one of the side edge flanks (202) of the cover layers, said strip consisting of a lightweight diagonal-fibre wooden material (HLM) with diagonal cavities. The material has a grain (hf) running diagonally to the principal surfaces (PHF) of the panel at a positive and/or negative acute angle (a) of between +25 and -80° and/or between -25 and -80° and a plurality of diagonal cavities (31) that run parallel to the grain direction (hf), are separated by struts (32) and preferably have a rectangular cross-section. A common cover layer (4) is bonded to the respective principal surfaces (KHF and VHF) of the core panel (2) and the reinforcement strip (3) with the diagonal cavities that are open on both sides (31). |
