PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction disc that is hardly influenced by abrasion powder that inevitably occurs in a drag mechanism of fishing reel. SOLUTION: In the fishing reel that is equipped with a clutch composed of the friction disc and a braking disc at a power transmission portion between a spool and a drive source and the drag mechanism for adjusting frictional engagement force between the discs, the friction disc is formed with a lining layer made of a friction material on a base plate and the lining layer is furnished with clearance grooves of abrasion powder. A plurality of fan-shaped segments are arranged at intervals in the circumferential direction in the lining layer and each interval between adjacent segments is a clearance groove. The linin layer is formed in a doughnut shape continuous in the circumferential direction and the clearance grooves crossing the inner and outer circumference of the lining layer are engraved in the lining layer.
