A method, computer-readable medium and system for manipulating image data are disclosed. The method includes accessing first image data (3) configured for display using a first display device; accessing information associated with a manipulation of the first image data; and using the information and the first image data to generate second image data (101, 102) configured for display using a second display device. The first and second display devices may each include one of multilayer displays, stereoscopic displays, and 2D displays. Examples include the conversion of input data to multilayer display data comprising depth cues, and vice versa; and the conversion of input data to stereoscopic data configured for a multilayer display, via the display of interleaved image data on one screen (24a) and a parallax barrier on the other screen (24b).
