LOW-MOLECULAR DEXTRAN FOR POWDER INHALATIONS

Pharmaceutical compositions suitable for inhalation are disclosed. The compositions comprise a dry powder comprising particles having a mean geometric diameter of 0.5 to 100 µm. The particles comprise from 0.01 to 99 wt % of an active and from 1 to 99.99 wt% of a dextran polymer having a molecular weight in the range of 1,000 to 30,000 daltons. The particles may be prepared by dissolving the active and the dextran polymer in a solvent, and spray drying the solution to form the particles.
