PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate an output device value for stably performing color reproduction of a characteristic by taking into consideration a color fluctuation of an image output device and an error of a measured value. SOLUTION: A image processor, for converting a value showing a targeted characteristic into a value in a reproducible color space belonging to a printer 103, includes: a measuring instrument 104 for measuring a color; a characteristic setting means for measuring or inputting a targeted characteristic and storing the measured or input result as a value of a device independent color space; a color chart measuring means for making the printer 103 output a color chart 102, and measuring, by the measuring instrument 104, the output result in order to check an output characteristic of the printer 103; a determining means for determining whether to be within an allowable range from the coordinate position of a characteristic in the device independent color space obtained by the characteristic setting means; and a determination means for selecting a value for reproducing the targeted characteristic among values determined to be within the allowable range by the determining means in the color space of the printer 103, and making a determination of the selected value as a value of each color component to be given to the printer 103.
