<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a data receiving apparatus from displaying a noise image, or outputting such an abnormal noise that damages its speaker. <P>SOLUTION: In a data transmitting method, when media equipment 20 for recording and reproducing data shifts from stop state (Stop) to playback state (PB), and starts outputting data which are recorded in a recording media, the media equipment 20 changes a broadcast connection counter or a point-to-point counter in an output plug, from 0 to 1 to enter a connection state, when DIF mode (digital input or output mode) is changed from IN to OUT.
