<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing apparatus, which can control the generation time of power-down signal without using a controller for supporting output of the power-down signal. <P>SOLUTION: An EC 120 includes power-down signal LPCPD# generating function. In transition to a power-saving state, the EC 120 sets the power-down signal LPCPD# to an active state before a peripheral device 119 is reset by a south bridge 115.
